Where did mondaytofriday come from?
We set up mondaytofriday.com because we were fed up with long-stay hotels and endless hours of commuting. We wanted a “home from home” for the working week but we still wanted to go back to our homes and families at the weekend. We needed somewhere from Monday to Friday and a place offering weekday renting was hard to find.
As a result of spending so much time away from home in the week, one of our founders, Judy Niner wondered about finding someone to rent a room in her own house during the working week. She learned that the Rent a Room scheme would allow her to earn £4250 tax-free and, by having a lodger who stayed from Monday to Friday, she could still have the house to herself during precious weekends at home.
Talking to friends and colleagues, we discovered that we were not alone. Many of us want a better work-life balance and staying away during the working week can help us all to achieve it. Also, lots of us are happy to share our homes with someone in the week and would like to earn up to £4250 tax-free but we still want our privacy at the weekends.
